The 1st of January is not a new year’s resolution fitness ship that has sailed without you. If you’re struggling to get on motivated with starting your fitness journey know that you can jump on board at any point. There’s no need to wait for the new year, 1st of the month, Monday.
Once you have chosen to become a passenger on your fitness journey, the ship’s staff and fellow passengers will be accommodating and friendly and make you feel at home and at ease, and you will make friends with others on the same journey, possibly different destination, as you and start to create goals, celebrate achievements and make memories.
On this journey, with your new instructors and fellow class participants you will become a crew whom support each other, you will endeavor rough seas, calm seas and sometimes come to a complete stand still, a plateau, with obstacles in your way… see obstacles as temporary and you will soon be on the move again… the ice will melt from around your ship and you will continue on your journey.
Sometimes you’ll want to get off, time, money, family commitments… just remember that you are probably the one holding day to day life together for your families and you need to look after you… you can’t pour from an empty cup.
There’s a plentiful supply of superb fitness classes and instructors around you, have fun trying the different styles, concepts, teaching methods. Fitness IS for everyone, however one size does not fit all, so find your thing and make it a part of your lifestyle.
I personally like lifting things, hitting things, kicking things, short sharp high intensity workouts .. hiit, viit, tabata, fartlek, flipping tyres, slamming ropes and med balls etc ….. Steady state cardio and is not for me … a runner for example would look at the above and think… blurrrghhhhh … and a newbie would possibly read the above and run away screaming in a cloud of dust…
Don’t be afraid to ask your instructor questions, don’t be afraid to ask for help in the gym, we are all… OR CERTAINLY SHOULD BE, approachable and willing to help and guide you on your journey.
Forget NEW ME... there’s nothing wrong with you as you are… it should be FITTER HEALTHIER HAPPIER VERSION OF ME… you don’t have to be on a diet, just make some wiser nutritional choice that are sustainable and get moving… small changes .. huge results…
Many have so many different goals, training for an event, weight loss, strength, build muscle, put on weight, health improvements,
socialising,sanity !!
Get your head in the game, you are worth it, you can make time, you have support, you can ask questions, you are capable, you’re not too old, you’re not too heavy, you don’t need to get fit to start.. you ARE good enough.
Be consistent, be persistent, make is sustainable, then it’s a lifestyle rather than a chore.. you are allowed to get off of the ship now and then to go out for dinner, drinks and goodies (so long as I can come with you .. ha) … have a soopa doopa time then get back on the ship ..
If you’re feeling heavy.. remember ..
You are not Fat, you have Fat…
You have Fingernails, you are not Fingernails…
I Love that … haha
Have a Super Day x x
